Properties located in Buckhead Buckhead is an intown Atlanta area that is rich in history. The community can be traced back to 1837 when a gentleman named Henry Irby owned a tavern and general store at Roswell Road and West Paces Ferry Road. As the story goes, Irby killed a deer and mounted the "buck head," for travelers to see. Despite 19th century efforts to rename the area, the name "Buckhead" stuck. Buckhead developed over the years with beautiful, large homes and charming cottages. The completion of Lenox Mall in 1958, further staked Buckhead's claim as a social and commercial focal point in Atlanta.
